ADDIS ABABA, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian Airline, Africa's fastest growing airline on Wednesday confirmed a minor damage on its aircraft after a ramp incident at Oslo airport, capital of Norway.
Ethiopia's flag carrier said in a statement issued on Wednesday that "Ethiopian Airlines B787-900 aircraft with registration ET-AUP had a minor ramp incident at Oslo airport in evening of Tuesday just before departure."
"While taxing for de-icing, the tip of the right wing of the aircraft touched a pole and sustained minor damage," an Ethiopian airline statement reads.
The airline, which apologized its passengers for the inconvenience caused on the flight, said that "all passengers were taken to hotel while the tip of the wing of the aircraft is being repaired."
Ethiopian airlines further disclosed that passengers were re-booked to restore their travel plans after the incident.
Widely considered as the fastest growing airline in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines had encountered few incidents during its more than 70 years of operation in the east African country and beyond.
In August last year, the airline had confirmed a wing tip collision with an Air India aircraft at Indira Gandhi International airport.
Ethiopian airline, operating to more than 100 international passenger and cargo destinations across five continents, commands the lion's share of the pan-African passenger and cargo network.
