MADRID, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- The number of home mortgages granted to prospective buyers rose by 20.4 percent in October when compared with the same month of a year earlier, Spain's Statistical Office (INE) reported on Wednesday.
A total of 30,356 home mortgages were granted in the tenth month of the year.
The average value per mortgage rose by 4.6 percent in October year-on-year to 126,926 euros (145,049 U.S. dollars) and the amount of capital loaned rose by 25.9 percent year-on-year to 3.85 billion euros.
Spain's home mortgages have been rising for seven consecutive months year-on-year.
On a month-to-month basis, the country's home mortgages decreased by 6.5 percent while the amount of capital loaned fell by 7.1 percent.
Spain's southern region of Andalusia registered the largest number of home mortgages with 5,984. Madrid (center) registered 5,862 and Catalonia (east) 5,808. (1 euro=1.14 U.S. dollars)
