KAMPALA, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's annual headline inflation rate for the year ending December declined to 2.2 percent, down from from 3.0 percent recorded in the year ended November, the country's statistics bureau said here on Monday.

"The decline in headline inflation is largely attributed to the annual food crops and related items inflation for the year ending December 2018, which decelerated further to minus 5.0 percent compared to minus 3.3 percent recorded for the year ended November 2018," the Uganda Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.

The annual core inflation dropped to 2.8 percent for the year ending December, compared to 3.4 percent recorded in the year ended November.

The annual energy, fuels and utilities inflation also declined, to 6.9 percent for the year ending December, down from 7.7 percent for the year ending November 2018.
