Tunisia, France sign cooperation deal worth 136 mln USD

TUNIS, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia and France on Friday signed a bilateral cooperation deal worth 120 million euros (136 million U.S. dollars).

The deal, covering electricity distribution, was signed by Director of French Agency for Development in Tunisia Gilles Chausse and Tunisian Minister of Investment, Development and International Cooperation Zied Laadhari.

"The project aims at enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions by 41 percent by 2030," said Laadhari in an official statement.

"Tunisia is moving towards the alternative of renewable energies. We welcome the excellent cooperation between Tunisia and France, especially with French Agency for Development, main partner of Tunisia," said Laadhari.

Chausse reiterated the commitment of his organization to continue supporting Tunisia and its development projects in various sectors.
