U.S. crude oil production remains level last week

HOUSTON, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- U.S. crude oil field production remains unchanged during the week ending Dec. 28, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Friday.

According to the EIA report, the weekly U.S. field production of crude oil averaged 11.7 million barrels per day, which stays the same as the previous week.

In the beginning of 2018, U.S. crude oil field production averaged 9.5 million barrels per day, approximately 2.2 million barrels per day less than the levels at the end of 2018.

U.S. crude oil field production averaged 9.8 million barrels per day this time in 2017.

Oil prices rallied on Friday. The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for February delivery gained 0.87 U.S. dollar to settle at 47.96 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude for March delivery increased 1.11 dollars to close at 57.06 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
