S. Africa's tripartite partners pledge to support ruling party

DURBAN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- South Africa's tripartite alliance partners on Saturday pledged unwavering support for the country's ruling party, African National Congress (ANC), in the coming elections.

The alliance partners said this at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban during the ANC elections manifesto.

South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary Blade Nzimande said the ANC has helped the liberation of South African and other African people, it deserves a mandate to complete its mission.

"Important to march forward more radically to complete social emancipation and at the same time strengthen the program to achieve both the African revolution and world peace," said Nzimande.

He called on the ruling party to work for the country's economic growth and better the lives of the people.

Nzimande called for the unity of alliance partners and victory for the ANC in the elections and completion of its country's prosperity agenda.

The Congress of the South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) President, Zingiswa Losi, said the workers are backing the ANC.

She said that they believe there is no other party which can take the country to prosperity besides the ANC.

"As Cosatu we have take a resolution to campaign for the ANC in all corners of the country so that it can get overwhelming victory," Losi said.

South African National Civic Organization (Sanco) also threw their weight behind ANC.

The ANC is in alliance with SACP, Cosatu and Sanco. South Africa will hold elections between May and August this year.
