TOKYO, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks bounced back Tuesday morning on hopes for further positive earnings in the financial sector in the United States, with investors snapping up domestic issues on the cheap following their earlier retreat.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 184.94 points, or 0.91 percent, from Friday to 20,544.64.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 12.17 points, or 0.80 percent, to 1,541.90.
Precision instrument, miscellaneous product and securities house-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
Markets here were closed on Monday for a national holiday.
