Dollar changes hands in lower 109 yen range in early trade in Tokyo

TOKYO, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the lower 109 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Thursday, largely in line with its levels in New York overnight.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 109.04-05 yen compared with 109.04-14 yen in New York and 108.61-62 yen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1398-1398 dollars and 124.30-31 yen against 1.1387-1397 dollars and 124.24-34 yen in New York and 1.1393-1394 dollars and 123.74-78 yen in late Wednesday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
