Asif Saeed Khan Khosa takes oath as 26th Chief Justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa was sworn in as the 26th Chief Justice of Pakistan at a ceremony held at the presidential house on Friday.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath-taking ceremony of the new chief justice who has replaced Justice Mian Saqib Nisar after his tenure ended on Thursday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chief of the Army, the Navy and the Air staff, Judges of Supreme Court, federal ministers, senior lawmakers and a number of foreign dignitaries attended the ceremony.

According to the Apex Court's website, Khosa has decided about 55,000 cases over a period of more than 19 years so far. He also authored multiple books during his career.

He will remain the country's top judge for 11 months and is scheduled to retire on Dec. 21, 2019.
