LISBON, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Portuguese government strongly condemned on Monday the terror attack against facilities of the United Nations Integrated Multidimensional Mission for Stabilization of Mali (MINUSMA), in Aguelhok, Kidal region, which left 10 Chadian blue helmets dead and at least 25 injured the previous day.

Portugal expressed its full solidarity with the United Nations and Chad and conveyed to the bereaved families their most sincere condolences, also hoping for the swift recovery of the wounded, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

The Portuguese government considered that any attack against the United Nations constitutes an attack on the whole international community, as well as a blatant violation of international law, the statement said.

Portugal will continue to participate both in MINUSMA and in EU missions and operations in Sahel region, which contribute to peace and stability in the region, it said.
