Aussie dollar continues to slide

SYDNEY, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Australian dollar was lower against the greenback on Tuesday, continuing to reverse gains from the previous week.

At the Asian market open, 07:00 (AEST), the Australian dollar was buying 71.60 U.S. cents, down from 71.77 U.S. cents on Monday.

Major currencies were weaker against the U.S. dollar in U.S. and European trade compared with the Asia close, Commsec market analyst Craig James said.

At 09:30 (AEST), the local unit was buying 71.58 U.S. cents.
