Powerful quake strikes off central Indonesia, no tsunami alert issued

JAKARTA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- A strong and shallow quake with a magnitude of 6.2 rocked East Nusa Tenggara province of central Indonesia earlier Tuesday, but was not potential for tsunami, official in charge of meteorology and geophysics agency Aziz Sugiarso told Xinhua by phone.
