KIEV, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine's gas reserves are sufficient to meet the needs of domestic consumers during the winter heating season, which ends in mid-April, the chairman of Ukraine's state-run energy company Naftogaz Andriy Kobolev said on Thursday.
"We have enough stocks. ... Everything is going according to the plan," Kobolev said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
Since the start of the heating season in mid-October 2018, Ukraine has used some 5 billion cubic meters out of its winter gas reserves of 17.2 billion cubic meters, Kobolev said.
In the previous cold season, from mid-October 2017 to mid-April 2018, Ukraine consumed over 9 billion cubic meters of gas from its underground storage facilities.
Last year, Ukraine's overall gas consumption stood at 28.5 billion cubic meters, of which 37.1 percent were imported from abroad.
