TOKYO, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Friday as solid earnings from U.S. chipmakers lifted the market mood and sent domestic technology issues higher.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 198.93 points, or 0.97 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 20,773.56.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 13.50 points, or 0.87 percent, to finish at 1,566.10.
Oil and coal product, machinery, and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
