BRATISLAVA, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- A spokesperson with the Slovak parliament confirmed on Friday that 15 candidates had unveiled their bids for presidency in the country.

"All of them met the legislative criteria, either submitted at least 15 signatures of MEP or 15,000 signatures of people," said the spokesperson Tomas Koscelnik.

Among the candidates, European Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic is a nominee of the governing Smer-SD party. Vice-chairman of the Slovak Parliament Bela Bugar candidates for his own party Most-Hid.

Midnight Thursday was the deadline for submitting candidacies for the presidential race, which is slated for March 16, and a potential run-off round on March 30.
