ISTANBUL, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police on Tuesday detained at least 22 people in Istanbul over their suspected links to the Islamic State (IS), local media reported.

Police launched simultaneous operations in 27 locations across the city to capture the suspects, the private NTV broadcaster said.

The detainees were allegedly seeking to recruit new members and collect financial aid to the families of IS members, and they frequently went to conflict zones in Syria and have published a magazine to hide their illegal activities.

During the raids, police also seized many organizational documents and supplies, according to NTV.

More than 300 people were killed in deadly attacks in Turkey over the years blamed on the IS.
