WARSAW, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission (EC) downgraded Poland's gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for the next two years on Thursday, from 3.7 pct to 3.5 pct in 2019 and from 3.3 pct to 3.2 pct in 2020.

According to the EC's data, Poland's GDP in 2018 grew by 5.1 pct, the third-fastest economic growth in the European Union (EU) and the country's fastest growth rate since 2007 driven mostly by domestic demand.

Compared to 2018, slowing employment and higher inflation are set to moderate the country's consumption growth. As a result, a slowdown was expected in current and next year.

Risks to this outlook are broadly balanced and mainly related to external demand and private investment trends, it said.

In its 2019 budget, the Polish government has projected that GDP will expand by 3.8 percent. Poland's central bank expected that the country's GDP growth may exceed 4 pct in 2019.
