JAKARTA, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Anti-terror squad of Indonesia national police has arrested a man who is allegedly a member of IS group and had provided financial support to terrorist cells in the country, police said here on Monday.

Heri Kuncoro, alias Wahyu Nugroho, had also engaged in several terrorist strikes across Indonesia before the squad captured him when he was trying to depart from the International Soekarno-Hatta airport in Indonesia's capital to Syria, national police spokesman Brig. General Dedi Prasetyo said.

Kuncoro had frequently given funds to the "sleeping terrorist cells" across the country to launch terrorist acts, according to the spokesman.

"The suspect is an important perpetrator of terrorist acts in Indonesia because he has a direct link to the IS group in Syria," Prasetyo said.

Before joining the IS group in Syria, Kuncoro had also joined a leading global terrorist network of Jemaah Islamiah (JI), the spokesman said.
