NEW DELHI, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Indian Parliament's last session under the current government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ended on Wednesday.

In the past five years, the parliament witnessed as many as 17 sessions, including 331 days' sittings.

The country is expected to go to general elections sometime in April-May this year, the exact schedule of which is likely to be announced soon by the country's Election Commission.

The parliament has three types of sessions every year, namely the Budget Session, Monsoon Session and the Winter Session. The Budget Session takes place between February and April, while the Monsoon Session happens in July-August, and the Winter Session in the months of November-December.

Speaking on the last day of the last session under his government, Modi said that the parliament sessions over the past five years would be remembered for passing some of the important legislations in the country's history, particularly those dealing with checking corruption and black money, and also for permanently deleting more than 1,400 archaic laws.
