TRIPOLI, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Spokesman of Libya's eastern-based army on Wednesday announced that the army had completed all the military actions in the eastern city of Derna against the remaining terrorists.

"All the terror sites in Derna have been eliminated, and thus the process of clearing them has been completed," spokesman Ahmad al-Mismari told a press conference.

"Dozens of Libyan and foreign terrorists have been eliminated and dozens more have been arrested," al-Mismari said.

The spokesman warned against any "suspicious movements expected be carried out by sleeper cells in the city."

"We thank the residents of Derna for their support," the spokesman added.

In June 2018, the army announced taking over the entire city of Derna and defeating the pro-Qaida Shura Council of Mujahideen of Derna after besieging it for some three years.

The army, led by Khalifa Haftar, is allied with the eastern-based government, as the country is politically divided between two governments in the east and the west, both competing for legitimacy.
