LUSAKA, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Air Botswana will resume flights to Zambia after a two-year hiatus, a senior Zambian government official said on Monday.

Zambian Deputy High Commissioner to Botswana Goodwell Lungu said the airline has informed the embassy of its decision to resume flights into Zambia next month, with the maiden flight scheduled for March 31.

The Zambian envoy said the airline has attributed its decision to increased commercial activities and movements of people between the two countries.

The airline said it will start with flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, according to Lungu.

The airline halted its flights to Zambia in 2016 as "part of a route rationalization exercise."
