ATHENS, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Four people who had gone missing after their car was swept away by the swollen Geropotamos River on Crete island early on Sunday, were found dead in the vehicle on Monday, Greece's Fire Brigade announced.
The four family members - a young couple and the wife's relatives - were returning from a wedding when they made a distress call to the authorities, according to Greek national news agency AMNA.
The car was found half concealed by mud, water and cane plants, a few hundred meters from the spot where the water had swept it away.
The island was hit hard by a cold front which was sweeping Greece last week. The weather has improved since Sunday.
