286 foreign nationals in Namibian prisons

WINDHOEK, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's prisons are currently home to 286 foreign nationals, statistics provided by the correctional services on Friday shows.

Zambian nationals top the list of offenders incarcerated with a total number of 120 of which 119 are male and one is female. Most offenses committed by Zambians are immigration offenses (41) followed by rape (19) and offences under the nature conservation ordinance that is amounting to 12 offences.

Angolan nationals are second on the list with a total number of 91 offenders. Offenses included immigration offenses and drug-related offenses.

Other foreign nationals have come from countries including Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Tanzania, among others.
