BRUSSELS, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and President of the European Council Donald Tusk are due in the Egyptian Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday for the first EU-Arab League Summit, the Commission said in a statement Friday.

The Summit provides an opportunity for leaders to address a wide range of issues and common challenges, such as investment, economic ties, climate change, security as well as current political developments, said the statement.

Refugees crisis will also be high on the agenda, as the Middle East area has become a main source of refugees flooding to Europe. Uprooted by wars and arm conflicts stemming from the longtime Western interventionism in the region, those refugees have mounted heavy pressure on the EU's unity and integration.

Around 24 heads of state of the European Union (EU) members will come to Sharm el-Sheikh for the two-day summit, among whom are British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.
