HANOI, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said Tuesday that Vietnam and the United States should strengthen collaboration in bomb and mine clearance and in support for Agent Orange victims.

Minh made the remarks during talks with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Hanoi.

Minh expressed his delight at the development of bilateral ties, especially in economy, trade, education, settlement of war consequences and a project to address dioxin contamination at Bien Hoa airport in southern Dong Nai province, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Both sides agreed to increase the exchange of visits, especially high-level ones in 2019, to continue considering trade and investment ties as a driving force for Vietnam-U.S. relationship, and to enhance education-training ties and people-to-people exchange.

The talks took place on the occasion of Pompeo's trip to Vietnam together with U.S. President Donald Trump for the second summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the United States scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in Hanoi.
