BANGKOK, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Two policemen on Wednesday were found murdered and cast into a ditch after being abducted by insurgents from a teashop in southern Thailand's Narathiwat Province.

The victims, 31 and 30 respectively, were reportedly having tea with two villagers when the teashop was raided by eight armed men dressing like soldiers on Tuesday night.

The insurgents wearing masks, speaking Thai, entered the shop and forced the two policemen into a pickup truck outside the shop and sped off.

Police chief in the district called in police in all 13 districts in the province to hunt for the pickup on possible escape routes, only to be alerted early Wednesday that the two policemen's bodies were found dumped into a ditch 200 meters away from the teashop.

Police were later informed that the pickup truck of the victim had been set on fire.

The killers apparently knew routes around the district well as they managed to avoid all the road blocks set up by police, according to police.

Narathiwat, together with Yala and Pattani, are the three southernmost provinces of Thailand where an insurgency broke out in 2004.
