TUNIS, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The Tunisia National Security Services intercepted 19 letters containing toxic substances as a terrorist plan targeting Tunisian public personalities, the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior said in a statement Thursday evening.
"It is a preventive and intelligence operation. After analysis, the specialized services confirmed that the 19 letters contained toxic substances," it said.
The Interior Ministry said that Tunisia's National Unit of Investigation for Terrorist Affairs and Organized Crime started the investigations in this case.
The ministry has called on politicians, media professionals, trade unionists and other public personalities to inform the security services about all suspicious objects.
