Morocco, EU hold joint parliamentary committee

RABAT, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The 10th annual meeting of the Morocco-European Union (EU) Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was held on Friday in capital Rabat.

Co-chaired by Abderrahim Atmoun of the Moroccan parliament and Ines Ayala Sender of the European Parliament, the meeting focused on means to counter extremism and reviewing achievements of the JPC.

Speaking at this occasion, Sender commended the innovative efforts made by Morocco to reform the religious field.

For his part, Atmoun said that the meeting took stock of the achievements of this body, which has become essential for political cooperation between Morocco and the EU.

He added that the committee served as "a real laboratory for exchange and a key tool in parliamentary diplomacy."
