TRIPOLI, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Indiscriminate shelling on Tuesday injured six people in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, local sources said.

"Indiscriminate shelling by unknown source hit the Salmani neighborhood in eastern Benghazi," a local security source told Xinhua.

"Security cordon was made in the area where the shells fell. Explosives team arrived to the place to search the area for explosives," the source said under condition of anonymity.

Khalid Mohamed, an emergency doctor in the city's hospital, said all of the wounded persons were in stable condition.

Benghazi, Libya's second largest city, had witnessed a three-year war between the eastern-based army and militant groups, before the army took over the city in July 2017.
