NEW DELHI, March 14 (Xinhua) -- India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) Thursday test-fired a new indigenously designed and developed man portable anti-tank guided missile (MPATGM) in western state of Rajasthan, officials said.

The missile test was carried out in the ranges of Rajasthan desert.

"In a major boost for Army, DRDO successfully test fired indigenously developed, low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) for the second time today in the ranges of Rajasthan desert," a statement issued by the Defense Ministry said.

MPATGM is incorporated with advanced features, including state-of-the-art Imaging Infrared Radar (IIR) Seeker with integrated avionics, officials said.

The first test, according to the ministry, was conducted on Wednesday.

"In both the missions, the missiles hit the designated targets precisely at different ranges," the Defense Ministry said. "All the mission objectives have been met."
