Body of illegal immigrant found off Tunisian coast

TUNIS, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Coast Guard founded on Monday the body of an illegal immigrant off Sfax coast in southeastern Tunisia.

A source from the security department said on condition of anonymity that it was the body of a 26-year-old woman who attempted to reach the Italian coasts illegally.

The victim was on board an illegal boat with six men moving toward the Italian coasts on Saturday evening.

"The six other illegal immigrants are still missing," the source said.

Since the 2011 uprising in Tunisia, illegal immigration to Europe, especially Italy and France, has steadily increased in the North African country, especially among young people who suffer from unemployment and socio-economic degradation.
