Vietnam's retail sales, service revenues up 12 pct in Q1

HANOI, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues in the first quarter of this year increased 12 percent year-on-year to nearly 1,185 trillion Vietnamese dong (51.5 billion U.S. dollars), the country's General Statistics Office said on Friday.

Specifically, Vietnam's goods retail sales stood at 910.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 39.6 billion U.S. dollars), up 13.4 percent, with sales of food and foodstuffs growing 13.5 percent, home appliances growing 12.7 percent, garments growing 12.1 percent, and vehicles growing 12.9 percent.

In the three-month period, restaurant and accommodation revenues were 140 trillion Vietnamese dong (nearly 6.1 billion U.S. dollars), up 9.2 percent, and tourism revenues stood at 11.3 trillion Vietnamese dong (491.3 million U.S. dollars), up 12.8 percent, the office said.

In 2018, Vietnam's total goods retail sales and consumer service revenues rose 11.7 percent year-on-year to nearly 4,396 trillion Vietnamese dong (191.1 billion U.S. dollars). Specifically, its goods retail sales surged 12.4 percent to over 3,306 trillion Vietnamese dong (143.7 billion U.S. dollars).
