SOFIA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A small aircraft crashed on Tuesday evening in North Macedonia, killing four Bulgarian citizens on board, Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the remains of the crashed Cessna aircraft were found on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. local time in Yakubitsa Mountain at an altitude of 2,200 meters.
The plane was flying from Ohrid, a small resort city in the southwest of North Macedonia, to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, and fell from a height of 4,200 meters, it said.
According to information from North Macedonian Air Traffic Control, the aircraft was caught in severe turbulence and the pilot has lost control, the statement said.
On Wednesday before noon, North Macedonian rescue teams managed to get to the scene of the accident, it said.
The bodies have not yet been identified, and no identity documents were found on the scene, it added.
