Senior Chinese official visits Portugal

LISBON, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Ma Biao, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Portugal from Tuesday to Friday at the invitation of the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic.

Ma, who is also the president of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), met with President of the Assembly of the Republic Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, Vice President of the Assembly of the Republic Teresa Caeiro, and Portuguese Group for Friendship with China.

The two sides held in-depth exchanges of views on the bilateral relations, parliamentary and people-to-people exchanges.

Ma also attended a seminar on "Promoting People-to-People Ties and Co-Building 'the Belt and Road'", co-hosted by the delegation of CPAPD and the Chinese Embassy to Portugal, and delivered a keynote speech.

The Chinese delegation also had conversations with the representatives from Multi-Secular League of Friendship between Portugal and China, Friends of the New Silk Road, and Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation, among other organizations.
