KIEV, April 21 (Xinhua) -- No major violations have been recorded so far in the runoff of Ukraine's presidential election, deputy head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Oleg Konopolsky said on Sunday.

"According to our information, no particular violations that could affect the election results were recorded by the CEC structures, observers and law enforcement agencies," Konopolsky was quoted as saying by the government-run Ukrinform news agency.

Meanwhile, the press service of the Interior Ministry said that till 03:00 p.m. local time (1200 GMT) there were 690 reports of violations of the law related to the election process.

Most violations concerned illegal campaigning for certain candidates, taking pictures of the paper ballots, bribery of voters and threats of physical violence, the ministry said on Facebook.

Local media also reported that one of the presidential candidates, actor Volodymyr Zelensky, got a fine for demonstrating his ballot to reporters, which is prohibited by law.

Zelensky competes with incumbent President Petro Poroshenko in the Ukrainian presidential runoff.

The polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) Sunday and will close at 8:00 p.m. (1700 GMT).

Over 130,000 law enforcement officers are deployed across the country to maintain order during the election.
