TOKYO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Japan Airlines officials said on Wednesday they have overcome a glitch in their passenger check-in system for domestic flights, which began at 6:50 a.m. local time.
According to the airline, a system failure meant that passengers had to check in manually as automated systems including using QR-codes to check in for reserved flights and automatic check-in machines at airports such as Haneda in Tokyo were malfunctioning.
Staff at Haneda Airport said the glitch caused delays to flights for up to one hour.
Japan Airlines said, however, that after ascertaining that one of its two servers related to automated check-ins was having a problem, it disconnected the problematic server, which helped restore operations to normal.
The company is still looking into the cause of the malfunctioning server and said that as a result of the system failure 18 flights to and from Osaka, Haneda and Fukuoka have been canceled.
