6th phase of India's general elections begin

NEW DELHI, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Polling of votes began on Sunday morning for the sixth phase of India's ongoing 17th general elections.

A total of 59 parliamentary constituencies will be witnessing polling of votes between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. local time.

All the seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi and 10 in neighbouring state Haryana, besides some parliamentary constituencies in some other states, go to polls on Sunday.

The last phase of the elections is scheduled to take place on May 19, and results are to be announced on May 23.
