YANGON, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 700 million kyats (466,600 U.S. dollars) worth of narcotic drugs in northeastern Shan state, according to a release of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) Monday.

The drugs were confiscated in a bamboo forest in Ma Pein township by local police force on Saturday as they conducted a search, finding some suspicious bags packed with 17.06 kilograms of heroin and 234,000 tablets of stimulants as well as some currency notes of 20.3 million kyats (13,533 U.S. dollars).

The police has filed against the drug owner under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and efforts are being made to arrest him on the charge.

Meanwhile, Myanmar authorities also seized heroin worth 220 million kyats (146,667 U.S. dollars) in Mogok township, central Mandalay region on April 28.

Soap boxes filled with 2.2 kilograms of heroin were confiscated in a car as the driver attempted to drive away from being intercepted on Mogok-Minelon road.
