TASHKENT, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has recorded an average temperature increase by 0.29 degrees Celsius in every decade since the middle of the last century, the Uzbek center of hydrometeorological service said on Thursday.

In recent decades, there are more and more negative phenomena associated with climate change, which lead to increasing water scarcity and the occurrence of droughts, the center said in a report.

It called for actions to mitigate climate change impacts.

Central Asia is considered as one of the regions most vulnerable to both current impacts associated with increasing climate variability and long-term effects of global climate change.

The center said that it had held a roundtable to deepen the understanding of the activities of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and discuss the development of project proposals for the fund.

The GCF is a financial mechanism under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) which helps to respond to climate change by investing in low-emission and climate-resilient development.

Currently, Uzbekistan has prepared three projects for submission to the GCF, according to the center.
