Egypt's global trade up to 47.7 bln USD in H1 of FY 2018-2019: report

CAIRO, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Thursday that the volume of Egypt's global trade hit 47.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019 against 42.85 billion dollars a year ago.

Fiscal year in Egypt starts in July and ends in June.

China topped the list of Egypt's most important trade partners, according to the CBE's report.

The trade volume between Egypt and China hit 8.4 billion dollars in the first half of FY 2018-2019, higher than 7.5 billion dollars during the first six months of the previous fiscal year.

The United States ranked the second with trade volume estimated at 3 billion dollars, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Italy.
