SEOUL, May 24 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's export volume rebounded in five months last month on rising demand for electronic devices, central bank data showed Friday.
The export volume index gained 2.4 percent in April from a year earlier, the first rebound since December last year, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
It was attributed to demand for electronic devices, computer and optical instrument, which rebounded 4.3 percent in the month. Export volume of chemical products advanced 6.3 percent last month.
Export volume of primary metal products declined 3 percent on restrictions from the United States and the European Union (EU).
In terms of value, the export fell 4.2 percent in April from a year ago, keeping a downward momentum for the fifth consecutive month.
The continued reduction came amid the ongoing downturn in business cycle of the global semiconductor industry that lowered product price.
