MANILA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- A Philippine Air Force (PAF) plane crashed into Manila Bay waters in the northern Philippines on Friday and two pilots were rescued, military and police said.
Cavite city Police Col. William Segun said the pilots were on a "proficiency flight lesson" and were doing "touch and go" maneuvers when their OV-10 Bronco plane experienced "engine failure" around 12:30 p.m. prior to landing at the Sangley Point Airport in Cavite city, southwest of the Philippine capital Manila.
The two pilots aboard the plane were ejected and were rescued by the fishermen nearby, police said, adding the pilots only suffered minor wounds.
PAF spokesperson Maj. Aris Galang said a team was already formed to investigate the mishap.
OV-10 Bronco, which was developed in the 1960s, is an American twin-turboprop light attack and observation aircraft.
Used as close-air support combat aircraft, several OV-10B planes are currently deployed in the southern Philippines.
