SARAJEVO, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The total assets of sector of Non-Banking Institutions (OFI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for 2018 amounts to 4.15 billion KM (2.37 billion U.S. dollars), the Central Bank of BiH said in a press statement on Friday.
The total assets of OFI recorded an increase of 283.6 million KM, a 7.3 percent increase year-on-year, the press statement added.
The largest share in the assets of the OFI sector is taken by insurance companies, 46.2 percent, followed by microcredit organizations, 22.9 percent and investments funds, 21.5 percent.
"At the annual level, the increase of the assets of the OFI sector was under the strongest impact of the increase of microcredit organizations'assets by 101.45 million KM," the press statement reads, adding that the increase of assets was recorded in insurance companies by 100.9 million KM.
In addition, leasing companies and investment funds recorded lower increases of 43.6 million KM and 36.3 million KM, respectively.
When it comes to structures of the assets of the OFI sector, loans have the largest share of 25.8 percent, while the deposits have a share of 23.8 percent.
The OFI statistics in BiH includes the data for 26 insurance companies with the reinsurance company, 35 investment funds, seven leasing companies, 25 microcredit organizations, eight brokerage houses, and two stock exchanges.
During the previous five years, the OFI sector has been recording positive annual growth rates, ranging from 1 percent to 7.3 percent, the statement added.
According to the statement, despite the growth of non-banking institutions, the banks remained dominant, accounting for 88.7 percent of the total financial sector assets in BiH.
