ADDIS ABABA, May 29 (Xinhua) -- An Ethiopian law banning alcoholic drinks advert came into effect on Wednesday, three months after the Ethiopian parliament approved a legislation banning alcoholic drinks in Ethiopian media outlets.
The Ethiopia Federal Ministry of Health said the alcoholic drinks advert ban is part of broader plans to promote healthy living.
The ban also extends to lottery prizes and billboards promoting alcoholic drinks, as well as sale of alcohol to people under 21 years of age.
The ban on alcoholic drinks adverts coincides with a ban on smoking near public institutions and entertainment spots.
