Belarusian president grants authorities of vice premier to his ambassador to Russia

MINSK, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko granted the authorities of vice premier to his ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko in charge of Belarus' activities in the Union State and relations with Russia.

Lukashenko signed the corresponding decree on Thursday, the presidential press service said.

Acting as vice premier, Semashko will represent Belarus in contacts concerning bilateral cooperation with designated officials and public bodies of Russia and agencies of the Union State; submit proposals regarding trade, economic and investment cooperation with Russia to the government, state administration bodies, oblast executive committees, the Minsk City Hall, and other public agencies and organizations, the press service said.

The official will be personally responsible for promoting the national interests of Belarus in the Union State and relations with Russia.

Semashko served as Belarusian vice premier in 2003-2018. In November 2018, Lukashenko appointed Semashko as Belarusian ambassador to Russia.
