WASHINGTON, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Multiple people were injured in a shooting on Friday at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center in the eastern U.S. state of Virginia, authorities said.
Virginia Beach police tweeted that it is believed there's only one shooter, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
There's no detail on the extent of the victims' injuries at this time. The police warned the public to avoid the municipal center area.
An employee who works in the building told local media WAVY that he and several other people were able to safely leave the building after reports of an active shooter. He said he found a woman inside a stairwell covered in blood.
