CAIRO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Egypt called on all parties in Sudan to exercise self-restraint and return to dialogue to achieve the aspirations of the people, the country's foreign ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"Egypt closely follows the recent developments in Sudan and its repercussions on the region," according to the statement.

Egypt stressed the importance of exercising self-restraint and returning back to dialogue and negotiations, it added.

It reiterated full support for Sudan in this critical condition, noting Egypt backs all endeavors exerted to achieve better future for the Sudanese people based on stability, security, prosperity and welfare.

Spokesman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC), Shams-Eddin Kabashi on Monday denied news on dispersing the sit-in in central Khartoum.

Protesters are demanding that the country's TMC hand over power to civilians.

The TMC, chaired by Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir. Enditem
