Kuchma to represent Ukraine in Trilateral Contact Group again: Zelensky

KIEV, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Leonid Kuchma, the second president of Ukraine (1994-2005), will again represent the country in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his briefing on Monday.

The representatives from Ukraine, Russian Federation, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will meet in the format of TCG on Wednesday to continue their work on a diplomatic resolution of the conflict in Donbas region of Ukraine.

"The first meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group will be already held on June 5th, with Leonid Kuchma being the head of the group," Zelensky said during the briefing in Kiev.

The Ukrainian president said that his team has very concrete proposals and he wants all these proposals to have very strict implementation deadlines.

Kuchma noted that he could not but agree to the position offered since Ukraine is experiencing hard times.

Kuchma already represented Ukraine in TCG in 2014-2018.

According to the press-service of the president of Ukraine, during the time Kuchma represented Ukraine in TCG he facilitated stopping the full-scale military operations and starting the restoration of destroyed infrastructure of Donbas.
