BERLIN, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Hertha Berlin have signed Germany's U-21 midfielder Eduard Lowen from relegated side Nuremberg, and both sides confirmed on Thursday.

Lowen will stay with the "Old Lady" until June 2024 after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal.

"We have been observing Eduard intensively for some time. As a junior national player he fits exactly into the category of player we are looking for: young, talented and in their development yet far from finished. We are happy that he opted for Berlin," Hertha's sporting director Michael Preetz said.

Lowen joined Nuremberg in 2016 and made 22 appearances, providing three goals and assists in the past Bundesliga season.

"Hertha Berlin made efforts to sign me. I had a good feeling from the beginning and now I am happy to be with this club," new arrival Lowen told the club's official homepage.

The Bundesliga kicks off the first round of the season 2019-2020 on August 16.
