KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, June 14 (Xinhua) -- A police van was blown up by a magnetic bomb Thursday night in the southern Kandahar province, killing a local police commander on the spot and injuring three others, Jamal Barekzai, the provincial police spokesman in the restive province said Friday.

The deadly incident happened after the sticky bomb was attached to the police vehicle in Shah Walikot district. It also injured three others including a bodyguard of the police official and two civilians, the official said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the bloody incident. However, the official did not rule out the involvement of the Taliban fighters, saying the militants could be involved to terrorize the locals.
